Two professional colleges barred from admitting students [Thursday, June 25, 2009]
Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy announced in the assembly on wednesday that two professional colleges were barred from admitting students in the current academic year due to the lack of qualified faculty. The two colleges have been identified as PMR Engineering College, Adayalampattu, and the GGR College of Engineering, Vellore.Mr. Ponmudy warned colleges collecting capitation fee, saying a five-member committee would continue its surprise checks. Besides writing to the AICTE recommending withdrawal of approval, the government would take action against them through universities.
