Soon after the Srilankan president announced about the presidential elections, the much expected candidate, former Army General Fonseka declared that he would contest for the upcoming elections. He would be standing as the candidate of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) party, UNP and other parties.In his speech General Fonseka said that he would work towards the abolition of executive presidency in the country.
