Yesterday was a day of glory for the Indian Film Industry and celebration time for the centuries old and distinguished Indian Music. Indian Music won global accolades as a result of the dedicated work of the music maestro, A R Rahman. The rise to glory of a humble man from Chennai is quite noteworthy. Born as the only son to music director Sekar, Rahman started learning keyboard at a very early age. He later became an arranger in private rock bands. After receiving quite a bit of expertise, he started accompanying popular music troupes. Rahman has played in maestro Ilayaraja, M.S.Viswanathan and Ramesh Naidu’s orchestras and has accompanied many eminent musicians during their world tours. Deciding to equip himself with theoretical knowledge, he then took up exams at the Trinity College of London and received a certification in western classical music. It was then Rahman recognized the craving in him to compose. Then he opened his recording studio and he started of as a full time composer. His  composition for Roja easily reversed the existing trends. Then he took a swift turn. And finally has elevated himself to the status of a world reknowned composer amking India and Indians proud all along.
